Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensures daily and weekly planning is done and work is scheduled accordingly
- Performs any work-related duties when instructed
- Cleans equipment and tools
- Ensures the company’s buildings and facilities are maintained in a clean and orderly manner
- Provides manual labour assistance on various tasks and assignments
- Ensures sites are cleaned; no rivets, plastic components etc. laying around
- Uses hand and power tools i.e., drills, grinders, saws, conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, hacksaws etc.
- Secures brackets to bulkheads and pulls wires through conduit
- Complies with all reasonable instructions
- Selects the type and size of work required
- Locates and marks positions for connections and fixtures
- Cuts holes
- Installs supports and hangers for pipes, fixtures, and equipment
- Assembles and installs fittings
- Inspects the surface to be spray painted and cleans and preps accordingly
- Removes rough spots and treats surfaces
- Mixes and prepares paint for application
- Spray paints surfaces
- Performs quality checks on finished products
- Maintains and cleans equipment
- Reports any defects and/or issues pertaining to cabin units, equipment and/or machinery
- Ensures that any shortcomings in material and/or tool requirements are reported well in advance
- Ensures that daily reporting of completed and/or incomplete work is done to line manager/s
- Ensures that housekeeping standards are always maintained
- Ensures compliance to all statutory regulations
- Ensures compliance to the organizational Health and Safety code of conduct
- Carries out inspections to ensure that materials are stacked, transported, moved, and handled correctly and safely
- Ensures the correct use of PPE equipment
- Ensures that daily/monthly departmental tool, safety inspections and other inspections are performed and signed off as per the required schedule. Reports any findings or deviations to the Rentals Superintendent

Requirements
- Matric
- Trade Test Certificate
- Or studying towards trade test
- 2-years relevant experience
- Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools
- Manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance
- Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting, and handling procedures
- Ability to operate required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
- Reading and writing skills
- Teamwork skills

- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
- Time management skills
- Basic electrical - Installation methods, Installation skills
- Basic Plumbing - Water distribution, Wastewater disposal, Installation procedures and maintenance
- Basic spray painting - Handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedure, Paint mixing technique, PPE requirements for spray painting
