Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain geospatial databases using ArcGIS and other mapping software.
  • Conduct spatial analysis using various techniques and tools to support decision-making.
  • Create and update high-quality maps, charts, and other visualizations to effectively communicate geospatial information.
  • Collect, process, and analyze geospatial data from various sources, including GPS, remote sensing, and other digital platforms.
  • Perform georeferencing, coordinate system transformations, and other data manipulation tasks.
  • Develop and implement spatial data management procedures and workflows.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout the entire geospatial data lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to provide geospatial support and solutions.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments and technologies within the GIS field.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of GIS software and hardware.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a GIS Technician or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of GIS software, including ArcGIS (Esri products), QGIS, and AutoCAD Map 3D.
  • Proficiency in spatial analysis techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience with geospatial data management and manipulation techniques.
  • Excellent cartographic skills and the ability to create clear and informative maps.
  • Strong understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and topology.
  • Experience working with various geospatial data formats, such as shapefiles, rasters, and geodatabases.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in GIS, Geography, or a related field is preferred.
