Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain geospatial databases using ArcGIS and other mapping software.
- Conduct spatial analysis using various techniques and tools to support decision-making.
- Create and update high-quality maps, charts, and other visualizations to effectively communicate geospatial information.
- Collect, process, and analyze geospatial data from various sources, including GPS, remote sensing, and other digital platforms.
- Perform georeferencing, coordinate system transformations, and other data manipulation tasks.
- Develop and implement spatial data management procedures and workflows.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout the entire geospatial data lifecycle.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to provide geospatial support and solutions.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments and technologies within the GIS field.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of GIS software and hardware.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a GIS Technician or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of GIS software, including ArcGIS (Esri products), QGIS, and AutoCAD Map 3D.
- Proficiency in spatial analysis techniques and methodologies.
- Experience with geospatial data management and manipulation techniques.
- Excellent cartographic skills and the ability to create clear and informative maps.
- Strong understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and topology.
- Experience working with various geospatial data formats, such as shapefiles, rasters, and geodatabases.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in GIS, Geography, or a related field is preferred.
